Challenge
The operating power station has a range of ongoing environmental management requirements under their Environment Protection Licence (EPL). Key issues include:
- Capping of an ash dam
- Importation of soils for capping
- Ongoing environmental monitoring of soils, surface water, groundwater and, sediments
- Implementation of a Clean Up Notice from the NSW Environment
- Protection Authority (EPA)
Solution
In response to the notice requirements, SLR was engaged to complete the following:
- Prepare a Preliminary Site Investigation
- Undertake Waste Classifications
- Prepare a Remedial Action Plan
- Undertake a round of environmental monitoring
- Provide environmental awareness training
- Prepare a plan for managing imported fill material
