Job Description

SLR has a large and successful ESIA team that works across a range of sectors, throughout the UK and overseas. We have a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate with good knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessments or project management experience of environmental projects to take on a role as Assistant EIA Co-ordinator within our Newcastle office.

This role would provide the opportunity to work with an experienced group of ESIA professionals and to provide project management support on a number of exciting and often complex and fast-paced projects based throughout the UK and overseas. You will work with clients, project teams and on international projects, which could include opportunities for overseas travel as your career progresses.
The team has a focus on the Energy sector but there are wider opportunities to get involved in other sectors, including mining, built environment, and infrastructure.

Training will be provided for the right candidate and a working knowledge of the EIA process is essential; any experience of working on EIA projects, ideally either in renewables or linear infrastructure (eg transmission lines) would be an advantage.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Working under the direction of more experienced staff, the successful candidate will help to manage a range of EIA projects and tasks taking them from initial inception through to consent and discharge of planning conditions. The work will involve coordinating teams, managing tasks and preparing of a range of reports. The role will involve projects across the UK, which will require short term travel to client sites as required

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within an experienced team and be involved in a series of exciting challenges with one of the leading environmental consultancies in the UK and will have the opportunity to work with the SLR offices around the UK, Ireland and France.


PERSON SPEC – SUMMARY

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
• Planning or EIA related degree and either holding professional qualification (e.g. RTPI or IEMA) or working towards membership.
• Good knowledge of EIA Regulations
• Project management experience
• Good report writing and computing with an understanding of EIA methodologies and experience of reviewing related reports.
• Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. An ability to work as part of a team, and to manage a team of internal or external consultants.
• Candidates should hold a full driving licence.
