SLR has a large and successful ESIA team that works across a range of sectors, throughout the UK and overseas. We are looking to further expand our European team with the appointment of a Senior EIA consultant to take on the role of Senior EIA Coordinator/Project Manager in Newcastle.
This role would provide the opportunity to work with an experienced group of EIA professionals and to provide support on a number of exciting and often complex and fast-paced projects based throughout the UK and overseas. You will work with clients, project teams and on international projects, which could include opportunities for overseas travel as your career progresses.
The team has a focus on the Energy sector but there are wider opportunities to get involved in other sectors, including mining, built environment, and infrastructure.
We would expect the successful candidate will have experience of working on EIA projects, ideally either in energy or linear infrastructure. You will also have experience of project management, either in a support role or managing projects and tasks in their own right. Experience of NSIP projects, wind farms and linear infrastructure would be advantageous.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will help to manage a range of EIA projects taking them from initial inception through to consent and discharge of planning conditions. The work will involve coordinating a range of in-house and external technical specialists together with taking the lead on the preparation of a range of high quality technical reports. The role will involve projects across the UK, which will require short term travel to client sites as required
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within an experienced team and be involved in a series of exciting challenges with one of the leading environmental consultancies in the UK and will have the opportunity to work with the SLR offices around the UK, Ireland and France.
PERSON SPEC – SUMMARY
Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
• Planning or EIA related degree and either holding professional qualification (e.g. RTPI or IEMA) or working towards membership.
• Good knowledge of the UK Planning system and EIA Regulations and ideally with experience of working on energy projects and knowledge of the relevant consenting process.
• Good report writing and computing with an understanding of EIA methodologies and experience of reviewing related reports.
• Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. An ability to work as part of a team, and to manage a team of internal or external consultants.
• The ability to deliver projects within deadline and budget constraints.
• Candidates should hold a full driving licence.
