Occupational Hygiene Assessment (AUS)
The Defence Centre for Occupational Health (DCOH) engaged SLR to deliver a range of services to enable achievement of Objective 4 of the Defence OH&S Strategy. This included an aim to improve the prevention of occupational injury illness and disease, with a specific emphasis on Defence policy for occupational hygiene assessments, concentrating on high risk areas including deployed and industrial environments.

Hygienists from SLR were deployed to the Department of Defence with active response services to Groups and Services within Defence including Army, Navy and Air Force. A senior hygienist was seconded within the Defence Centre for Occupational Health and directly assisted and enhanced Departmental capabilities.
SLR undertook the following works:
- Provide an active in-house occupational hygiene response service to Defence sites across Australia
- Conducting studies of operations and processes, determine exposure to hazards, devising methods, selecting instruments, conducting studies and providing reports
- Provide high level advice to assist in Defence Policy development on hygiene
- Mentor and provide training to Defence Health and Safety staff in Occupational Hygiene
