SLR Expert Shares Insights on GHG Reporting & Predictive Analytics at CH4 Conference

On September 18, Managing Principal Matt Harrison and Senior Engineer James Van Horne attended the Sixth Annual CH4 Connections Conference, the largest methane emissions conference in the U.S., which was held at Colorado State University and co-sponsored by SLR client, the Gas Technology Institute.

“The conference is attended both by a variety of our oil and gas clients seeking to reduce their methane emissions, as well as by other stakeholders,” said Harrison. “We were able to share our expertise and collaborate on key methane emissions issues facing the natural gas community.”

Van Horne spoke as part of a prestigious group of panelists during the conference. He covered storage tank design issues and the corrections deployed by our clients. These corrections have vastly reduced unplanned and unreported emissions.

The panelists shared views on managing large data sets, greenhouse gas surveys, and looking for patterns as well as integration of leak surveys or LDAR program data into business systems. In addition, they discussed predictive analytics or data mining for failure detection, integrated data capture, and reporting for greenhouse gas reporting or emissions reporting.

“We’ve established leadership in our storage design practices, and it was exciting to share our innovative solutions and best practices for the oil and gas industry,” said Van Horne. “I think we were well received.”
