Does reluctance in the waste sector to manage recyclables price risk presents opportunities for the insurance sector? Over 6 million tonnes of recyclables (e.g. paper, card, metals, plastics, glass) are collected annually from 23 million households in England and the volumes are expected to increase further in the future. The responsibility for providing household recyclables collection service in England sits with c.320 local authorities, of which over 170 have contracts with private waste management companies for the provision of collection services.View Article

Peter’s experience spans a broad range of environmental (acoustics, air quality, ESD and energy efficiency, planning) and engineering (civil and structural) fields as well as climate and insurance risk assessments. Peter has worked on relevant sector projects in North America, Asia Pacific and the Middle East.
Jeff Nyman(CAN) Close
Jeff Nyman is SLR’s Director for the Built Environment Sector in Canada and has over 19 years’ experience planning and conducting Phase 1, 2 and 3 ESAs, completing remedial options assessments, developing remedial plans, substantive cost estimating, writing tender specifications, managing remediation projects, and designing and implementing hydrogeological assessments.
Jeff also manages SLR’s Federal Government Services. As the federal government business development lead he is responsible for contact with federal government department leads. Jeff also provides technical expertise to staff in Canada on federal government regulations and work requirements, including northern projects
Jonathan Reynolds(EUR) Close
Jonathan is SLR’s Sector Lead for the Built Environment Sector in Europe and has over 16 years’ experience in Urban Design & Masterplanning across the UK.
Particular areas of expertise include the establishment of a design ‘vision’ for a site, followed by the preparation of masterplans and supporting design material for both greenfield and brownfield regeneration schemes, from small infill sites to major urban extensions and settlements. Jonathan can also undertake initial capacity assessments to help clients realise development potential by promoting sites through the planning system from an early stage. Jonathan has secured planning consent for a number of major development sites as part of a wider team, and has provided services as an expert witness for urban design & masterplanning.
Rob Hounsome has more than 20 years’ experience as a leader responsible for operational and strategic leadership of consulting businesses across multiple offices and engineering and scientific disciplines.
He has specific experience of environmental management requirements of mining, oil and gas and manufacturing/industrial development of associated issues ranging from those affecting biodiversity and social impacts through to waste and water management, control on air and noise and emergency response planning.

Mr. Hoefler has over 25 years of experience with a range of project management services that support Infrastructure development and expansion. His experience includes multi-media project management, air quality services, NEPA documentation, environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, spill prevention and response, utility planning, noise studies, and siting studies.
