City of Cape Town: Slope Stabilisation and Rehabilitation along Protea Drive, Gordon's Bay
The City of Cape Town is planning to stabilise and rehabilitate a slope adjacent to the high-pressure water bulk supply pipeline from the Steenbras Water Treatment Plant along the mountain slopes of Gordon's Bay. The pipeline servitude shares a common boundary with residential erven 2109 and 2110 along Protea Drive. The primary construction activities will entail the demolition of the house on Erf 2109, removal of the large Ficus tree on the bottom corner of the property and the construction of a new stable natural slope with suitable landscaping and erosion protection. The project is scheduled to commence during the second half of 2019 or the first half of 2020. SLR has been appointed to compile an Environmental Management Programme for the construction phase and to undertake the stakeholder engagement process.
An information letter has been distributed to identified interested and affected parties and also made available for download below. Any concerns or comments on the planned project are to be submitted to SLR by no later than 22 March 2019. Upon completion, the EMP will be made available for information purposes.
