Dr. Rob Lieffering

Biography

Rob is a highly skilled professional based in our Nelson office with over 30 years experience in the resource management field and is a full member of the New Zealand Planning Institute (MNZPI). He has expert knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991 as it pertains to all parts of consent application preparation (including assessments of environmental effects), processing, and decision-making. Rob has extensive experience in resource management decision-making, including many decisions made as an Independent Hearing Commissioner, he has also been Certified (with Chair Endorsement) under the Ministry for the Environment’s Making Good Decisions Programme since 2005. Rob has managed the Resource Consents Departments at both the Tasman District Council and the Northland Regional Council.

Rob has been involved in the preparation of numerous consent applications and assessment of environmental effects (AEEs) for large infrastructure projects within the Tasman District and has an expert knowledge of the Tasman Resource Management Plan (TRMP).
