We are proud to be sponsoring, attending, and hosting workshops at proEXPLO 2023, one of the largest geological-mining conferences in Latin America. From May 8-10, members of the mineral exploration and mining industry from over 28 countries will meet at the Lima Convention Center in Lima, Peru for several days of seminars, keynote speakers, short courses, and more.

SLR’s Rosmery J. Cárdenas, P. Eng, and Sean Horan, P. Geo will be in attendance.

  • We are hosting two workshops, one pre-conference, and one post-conference:

Fundamentals of Mineral Resource Estimates (in-person, pre-conference) presented by Sean Horan and Rosmery Cárdenas

Mineral resources, and their subsequent conversion to mineral reserves, are of key importance to mining companies and to the mineral industry. Their reliable estimation is critical to the confidence in a project, to its underlying economics, and to the day-to-day operation of a mine. There is a requirement for high quality interpretation and estimation of Mineral Resources in order to make sound investment and operational decisions.

In this practical course, Sean Horan and Rosmery Cárdenas will outline key components of mineral resource estimation, beginning with drilling databases and progressing to cover resource domains, exploratory data analysis, trend analysis, estimation techniques, cut-off grade calculations, and classification criteria and declaration of Mineral Resources Estimates following industry best practices and international reporting codes. .

They will also explore the considerations to be included in the Mineral Resource model, including practical aspects such as proposed mining methods and equipment, as well as geostatistical aspects such as criteria on proper domain selection and estimation strategy.

This in-person Spanish workshop will be held on May 6 & 7 from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. at ProEXPLO 2023 in Lima, Peru.

Understanding Public Reporting (virtual, post-conference) presented by Deborah McCombe, Rosmery Cárdenas, Reno Pressacco and Craig Waldie (OSC) on May 11 from 09:00–13:00.

Investor confidence in the mining industry is crucial for obtaining funding to support project development and exploration. Materiality, transparency, and competency are fundamental principles in public reporting of exploration results, mineral resources and mineral reserves and these concepts form the basis for most international Reporting Codes.

In this workshop, Deborah McCombe, Rosmery Cárdenas, Reno Pressacco, and Craig Waldie will summarize the key disclosure concepts of Canadian National Instrument 43-101 – Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects including the definition of a Qualified Person, disclosure of mineral resources, and mineral reserves, how to prepare a Technical Report and triggers for filing a Technical Report, and comparison with other international codes.

They will also present the Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserve best practice guidelines, the disclosure reviews by the regulators and discuss commonly observed issues. This workshop will describe the various components for disclosure of technical information to the public domain.

This collaborative presentation presented by SLR and OSC staff will assist geoscientists, engineers, and a company’s officers and directors in understanding the underlying principles and reporting requirements associated with mineral project technical disclosure under NI 43-101.

This online, Spanish workshop will be held on May 11 from 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
