Vales Point Environmental Assessment, Monitoring and Management

The operating power station has a range of ongoing environmental management requirements under their Environment Protection Licence (EPL). Key issues include:

• Capping of an ash dam
• Importation of soils for capping
• Ongoing environmental monitoring of soils, surface water, groundwater and, sediments
• Implementation of a Clean Up Notice from the NSW Environment
• Protection Authority (EPA)

In response to the notice requirements, SLR was engaged to complete the following:

• Prepare a Preliminary Site Investigation
• Undertake Waste Classifications
• Prepare a Remedial Action Plan
• Undertake a round of environmental monitoring
• Provide environmental awareness training
• Prepare a plan for managing imported fill material

Our team ensured that the most practicable and proportionate management response was implemented for managing compliance with the Clean Up Notice and ongoing EPL monitoring requirements.
