We are pleased to announce that Danie Otto has joined SLR as the Asset Transition and Closure Business Lead based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Danie brings over 30 years of experience in closure and restoration projects across Africa. In addition, his expertise ranges from Alpine to Swamp Forest systems, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, and he has managed large-scale artificial wetland design and implementation for mine water treatment and biodiversity offsets.

In his role, Danie will lead a multi-disciplinary team that develops and implements Asset Transition and Closure strategies and plans. The team has wide-ranging capabilities to help our clients navigate the complexities of asset closure and transition across a number of sectors.

We integrate our Engineering, Environmental and Social capabilities to assist clients realise asset transition and closure based on ESG goals that are aligned with the development objectives in the regions in which the assets are located. We also have the skills and tools to provide scheduling, resource allocation and closure liability or budget assessments to assist with financial planning or provisioning. The combination of these skills helps our clients to create post-closure opportunities that provide social and economic value while making the facility safe and managing environmental issues effectively.
