Mark is based in our Wellington office and has over 30 years of experience in consulting and local, regional and central government in New Zealand.
Mark's skills include impact assessment, district and regional planning, and preparing and presenting expert evidence. Mark is accredited and regularly engaged as a hearing commissioner and Chair. He has presented expert evidence at council and Environment Court hearings for a wide variety of developments. He served on the Board of NZWEA (NZ Wind Energy Association) from 2004 – 2007 and was re-appointed for 2020 – 2022, and provides occasional advice to SEANZ on RMA matters.
Mark has longstanding experience with wind farm consenting and, more recently, in relation to solar energy projects. Mark can provide a wide range of specialist advice, from the importance of iwi engagement and consent project costing through to nuances of the New Zealand planning system. He has been responsible for developing site screening (planning and environmental risks) projects, as well as strategic input to impact assessment and consenting.
