Sarah Bortz is a Senior Scientist with over 15 years of experience in a variety of disciplines within environmental consulting including litigation support, environmental compliance, project management, environmental chemistry, remedial investigation, statistical analysis, risk assessment, and environmental fate and transport. Her areas of technical expertise include site assessment and remediation, data management and analysis; long term cost projections; groundwater balance modelling; evaluation of water and soil gas chemistry and water quality impacts; development and management of sampling, analysis, monitoring, and reporting programs; risk assessment; and environmental decision making using a risk-based approach. Her work has been conducted for projects including planned, active, and closed mine sites; landfills; hazardous waste sites; former military bases; groundwater supply, treatment, and blending systems; public utilities; commercial and industrial properties; and the private sector.
Sarah has also assisted in the preparation of numerous plans and permits for state and local agencies, including National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits, Reports of Waste Discharge (ROWDs), Waste Discharge Requirements (WDRs), Industrial Stormwater permits, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), contingency plans, and environmental management plans.
