SUMP-PLUS was an EU-funded cross-sector project assisting cities to implement their sustainable urban mobility plans and move to a low carbon future. The project developed several tools relating to cross-sector links and actions between Green Deal sectors and business models that can support rapid roll-out.
The SLR team led on the workstream which produced the main guidance from the project. This included the new SUMP topic guide and practitioner briefings, policy papers directed to national and EU-level decision makers, and the city consult database. This provides cities with tailored guidance, assignments and tools that allow them to develop implementation strategies, including policy decision making, strengthening cross-sector links, initiating governance reforms, facilitating stakeholder engagement.
SLR also produced the innovative Carbon Reduction Strategy Support Tool. This is an open-source tool available for municipalities to use to better understand the mobility policies required to reach Net-Zero carbon. It has been endorsed by the European Investment Bank and is recommended for use by cities in the new EU SUMP Topic Guide on Decarbonisation of Urban Mobility.
