CGA - Proposed Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Project in the Coega Special Economic Zone, Gqeberha, Eastern Cape

Coega Green Ammonia (Pty) Ltd is proposing to develop and operate a 1 200 MW capacity green hydrogen electrolyser and associated ammonia production plant within Zone 7 of the Coega Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Gqeberha. The proposed project would be powered by various identified renewable energy sources and the produced ammonia would be exported through the Port of Ngqura. SLR has been appointed to undertake the required Scoping and EIA process for the proposed project.

Status

A Final Scoping Report was compiled and submitted to Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEDEAT) on 24 October 2024. All comments received were responded to in a Comments and Responses Report, which has been appended to the Final Scoping Report. The acceptance of the Final Scoping Report was received from DEDEAT on 21 November 2024.
