Biography

Jaimie studied engineering with architecture at the University of Manchester, and then specialised in urban design, completing an MA at the University of Westminster. He was previously a Director of urban design at global practices EDAW|AECOM and BDP and national Head of Design at Turley. An experienced masterplanner and urban designer, Jaimie regularly leads multi-disciplinary teams, working with public and private sector clients, to shape and deliver major developments.

Jaimie works across a range of sectors, unlocking creative responses to complex development challenges. His experience covers mixed use environments, town centre transformation and brownfield regeneration as well as planning for residential growth and sustainable new places. Key projects at OPEN - now part of SLR - include the regeneration of central Birkenhead, the Ancoats area of Manchester and Stockport Town Centre, as well as new urban extensions in South East Warrington and East Halewood. He also leads the design of innovative new public spaces at Dock Branch Park in Birkenhead and as part of the transformation of the Strand shopping centre in Bootle.

Jaimie is a recognised practitioner with the Urban Design Group, an Academician at the Academy of Urbanism and a member of the Chartered Institute of Highways & Transportation. He is a visiting lecturer on landscape, urban design and architecture courses at the Manchester School of Art and the University of Liverpool. He sits on the PlacesMatter! design review panel for North West England and is a founder of Common Good, a movement pushing for positive change in northern towns and cities.
