Stephen van Niekerk

Biography

Stephen van Niekerk has over 20 years’ consulting experience and is the technical director responsible for the development and management of SLR’s closure and rehabilitation team across South Africa and Africa. He is focussing primarily on the development of mine closure plans, environmental risk assessments and the estimating of mine closure and rehabilitation liabilities; and also on the design, construction supervision, operations management and closure of MRD’s (i.e. tailings storage facilities, heap leach pads and waste rock dumps).
