Woking Highway & Public Realm Design

Challenge

Vectos has provided detailed design and highway advice on behalf of Woking Borough Council and Victoria Square Development Ltd for the Working Town Centre regeneration project.

Solution

The works included highway detailed design required for two residential towers with more than 30 storeys, Hilton Hotel, as well as circa 11,000 sqm of new retail floorspace and two new public spaces in the heart of Woking town centre.

Impact

Vectos has lead the detailed design for the S278 works required for the various phases of highway works. The works have included pavement, drainage, lighting, traffic signals and signing for variety of roads including amendments to a town centre dual carriageway and public realm shared used area with granite paving designed to BS7533 for trafficking. Designing the shared space has included close liaison with the local community whilst ensuring safety for buses and control mechanisms to restrict vehicle types. Vectos has also been retained to undertake the Contract Administration and Project Management of the Highway works under the NEC Contract.
